This is still a journey, but this time through mythology and the realm of dreams.

 

Sirens are enigmatic figures, irresistibly captivating. Often described as demons, able to enchant anyone who listened to their song, their stories have been passed down by poets, or, in any case, by men. Ships and the sea have always been male domains, and it was even believed that having a woman on board would bring bad luck.

 

This series, however, seeks to overturn these stereotypes, celebrating the sense of freedom, adventure, beauty and connection with the ocean that these creatures embody. A change of course towards gender equality.

 

In my paintings, a love story unfolds between a siren and a pirate. In this case, it is the female figure who belongs to the sea, while the pirate comes from the land and is only a temporary guest. He is bewitched by the allure of the water and its inhabitants. Thus, everything merges into the blue of the waves, the pink of the bodies, the red of the corals, and all the endless shades in which reality and the surreal blend.
